  Installation Instructions

EndNote is available for installation for all current students.  You must uninstall EndNote (or purchase your own license directly from EndNote) when you are no longer a current student.  Academic Services provides support, including assistance with installation, and training.  You can contact Academic Services by email, academic.services@ptsem.edu, phone, 430-2760, or in person at the Media Lab located on the first floor of Speer Library.  General support for EndNote is also available directly from the company

PC Installation:

Version for download: EndNote X3

  1. (Students only!) Download the file.  When prompted to log in, use your network account and password.
  2. Unzip the file to a location of your choice.  There are two files within the zip; they must remain together.
  3. Double-Click the freshly-extracted "ENX3inst" file.  This will begin the installation.
  4. Proceed through the installation.
  5. Once the installation is complete, you can delete both the zip file, and the extracted contents.
  6. You should check for updates within EndNote.
  7. To add more connection files, including PTS' library catalogue and ATLA, open EndNote and go to Edit > Connection Files > Open Connection Manager. Select Get More on the Web to download a complete list.


OSX Installation:

Version for download: EndNote X3

System requirements for EndNote X3

  1. Mac OS X (10.5.6)  Note: Endnote X3 does not run on Mac OS X 10.1 through 10.5.5
  2. PowerPC or Intel Macintosh 450 MHz or higher
  3. Microsoft Office 2004, 11.2.5; Microsoft Office 2008, 12.1.1

Installation instructions

  1. Download EndNote (Requires username and password)
  2. Unzip EndNote
  3. Move the EndNote X3 folder to Applications
  4. Navigate to that folder and launch EndNote X3
  5. Go through the installations process (Microsoft Office needs to be closed)
  6. To add more connection files, including PTS' library catalogue and ATLA, open EndNote and go to Edit > Connection Files > Open Connection Manager. Select Get More on the Web to download a complete list.
